Prof. Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua is a Professor of International Law and International Human Rights Law at the University of Ghana’s School of Law and serves as the Regional Director of the Africa Coalition for Academic Freedom. A dedicated human rights activist, lawyer, and scholar, his work focuses on advocating for academic freedom, environmental justice, and the rights of marginalized communities. Through collaborations with his students, he has led initiatives addressing pressing social issues, including illegal mining (galamsey) and the struggles faced by kayayee (female porters).
Passionate about the power of storytelling in advancing human rights and social justice, Prof. Appiagyei-Atua deeply connects with 715House’s mission to use film as a platform for change. Beyond academia, he enjoys watching football and Nigerian movies, reading novels, traveling, and playing football.
